Assignment 18: Director and Production Team: Self Portraits

In this project, the person in the picture direct (For me I just set guidelines and give the editor full freedom of editing) how they want their picture to look. I set the idea of the shot and a brief guideline for how I want my picture to look. It is kind of weird because I usually edit my own (and other's) pictures.

Another picture with a rose.

My ex-typical dark-themed artwork and (yes, another one) rose.
Something I did for forum signature. If you want to use it as forum siggy, crop it and put text (if desire) by yourself.
Ahh, yes... and the moon is there too.

Enhancing Photos Quality

Left = Before, Right = After.
Tools/Effects used = Crop, Hue/Saturation, Blur, Sharpen, Lighting
Why I choose these pictures = No particular reason, I just think they look nice, but can be improved. Our group choose and did the first 3 pictures together and did the last 2 individually.

Perspective

I usually do my works pretty fast... for some reason. Personally, I like the self-paced way of doing assignments here because I can rest in days I do not feel very creative or watch movies in-class to gain some creativity. Being a person who do works pretty fast, I often take advantages of my pace. I usually make one "core" idea which I will try to make then I usually adapt and change on how it looked in each step. I take a lot of time making sure my pictures and cutting edges are accurate.  Sometimes I do challenge myself either my thinking of a unique idea or by trying to make something hard but some other times I would do the assignment to meet expectation because I often and like to think of Photoshop as a hobby because I very much enjoy it.

Music

Music... so abstract... yet so tangible. Music can also be changed in many ways. A perfect comparison to music for me would be water. Music is what can fill you when you are down, like water when you are thirsty... it can clam you down when you're angry, just like water.... Well... I don't really know what more to say... later then!~~

My rose collection

looking at my Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, Blogger, and pretty much almost everything I registered, you probably think "What's this guy's deal and this bloody rose picture?". Well... honestly... I don't really know. I first used this picture for my Windows Live Messenger around 2 years ago (Not really sure) and I just like it and decided to stick with it. Now I have... what should I say... guess I'm just stuck with roses now... especially rose + blood (like in my profile picture). Rose and destruction seems to go together well in my perspective, perhaps, or maybe it's ironic in such a way that I like it. Here's something I did in my free time.

Notice a change?

Unless you are blind, you SHOULD (Like really really should) notice a change in my blog. I changed the template of my blog! And the BG too... now, some of you might ask "Why?". Well, I created a new blog, if you want to know why, read the one and only post (as of now) on that blog. And I was playing around with the templates and background and I saw THIS combination (Yep, the 2 blogs have the exact same layout/ BG) and, since this blog usually (As in from the 1st artwork?!?!?) have a dark color scheme, I think I might try a light color scheme this time.

Also, Brand new logo for this site! And a similar logo for my alt site.

Happy Halloween!

In Thailand, Halloween isn't a very big thing... so at first I didn't know what to make for this. Then, I decided to just mix things up and create some unique/weird creature. The only thing I relate to in this artwork would probably be the "Red moon" because I have been interested in red moons for quite a long time. So as I keep adding things, I end up with a "Jack o' werepire howling at a red moon". That's it for now!

Midterm Exam

To my left is the 2 pages, in the normal horizontal magazine layout. I choose to capture my readers' attention with strong black and white contrast and you need to turn the 2 pages to read what is on them. Once you turn the pages, the image below is what you will see.

I try to put minimum text, and in the same time, telling his story. His shadow also have been painted pitch black to fore-shadow his turning from the hero (his right side is also lighter compared to his left side) to the villain known by many people as the "One-Winged Angel" for his one black wing on his right shoulder. I applied the rule of 3rd with Sephiroth on the right side, and using the text as the 2 horizontal lines.

Assignment 13: Human and Tech Integration

My name... is Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Like my fathers before me, I am... an assassin.

This is my most epic assignment yet. I crossed Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin's Creed game series with robot parts. I turned out very good, I tried to make it realistic by adding massive amount of multi-layering (cutting parts of the image and putting it in above other part to give depth) and precise lighting/ shadow. It was really hard, but it turned out extremely well and I am more than satisfied with it.

Quick logo sharing

Pretty simple logo. I'm using it for my history project which I need to create a Google site on Digital Revolution. The background of the site is black, which explains why there are a lot of black on the edges.

Art Style

After looking at all my siggies (Forum Signatures), I have realized that... I like working primarily using 2 colors. For example, in my latest signature I focused on white and red. My blog is also focused on black and white. Black and white, for me, would probably be the most often used color scheme... for some reason. That's all for now!

Assignment 12: Thinkin'

This class have amazed me as I continue to take it. In the beginning of the quarter, I would set a straight path to my final work, and immediately do it. I wouldn't give as much as 10 minutes to think about my theme, nor give my work a break. As I progress, however, I take more breaks from the work, and start thinking, or sometimes, just for the purpose of taking a break. Yesterday, when this assignment was assigned, I couldn't think about what should I create that show thinking at all. I took a break from everything, and enjoy watching The Lord of The Rings that was playing in class. Then, at the end of the class, an idea hit me. The image you see on the left side of me took me only 3-4 minutes to make, but it took me the whole class to think... truly fitting for an assignment that promotes thinking.

This assignment have been my favorite so far. I watched The Lord of The Rings almost all the way through this assignment. I learned that an idea will come when it does, and I have also learned that many pictures aren't necessary to form a nice image. This image, originally is way less simple than it is, but all I changed it so much using only 2 layers and minimal effects.

My least favorite assignment was my first. That, however, does not means that I dislike it. It is only my least favorite because it is my worst.

I have learned the use of many tools and found myself many new techniques. But I will not talk about them. Why? Because I will talk about something I have learned that I consider more important. I have learned to have more patience, I have learned that rushing through with your work isn't the best way. I have learned to take a break and think about what I can do. These qualities will surely come in handy in the future.

My works have never cease to amaze me. For example, this work (Read why from above - -) and there are a few pieces of works that turned out so much better by accident. It is amazing how much different things can look from one little accident.

I have visited Andrew G's blog. This picture inspire me because it was only his 3rd artwork, yet he managed to improve so much.

Assignment 10: 3D Car... Freehand

I choose the car I did because... there's actually no particular reason for me to choose this car. At first, I thought I would do a "car" in Star Wars (Note the "car" not spaceships - -), but I couldn't find any on the internet.... I went went on Google and search for the most expensive car, then BOOM, here it is.

I learned that from different point of views, an object can change by a lot. And lighting also play a big role in perspective drawing especially when you put your image in a background. This is probably the ONLY artwork I have done with absolutely NO special effects because I want to see how well I can do without them.I did the whole thing by just using 5 things; Brush, Eraser, Move tool, Eyedropper, and layers (No layer effects).

I choose the background I did because... err... well, I did my car's shadow before I choose a background. Then I thought to myself... "what could fit the shadow of my car?", then an idea come to my mind, a sunset would fit perfectly! I went on to Google Image and found this image and saw the shadows and it was perfectly in-line with my car's shadow.

I felt the final image is very good. I never thought I could made an image this good without the use of effects before. I have also I'm proved my freehand drawing (No tracing at all).

Rant -Squeaky Shoes

Walking back from the town… going back to the dorm… all three of us was wearied from the up-hill walk. Step by step we walk, I was thinking about taking a nap when we get back dorm (Taking a nap is what I usually say I needed but seldom get the chance to). Half-way up the hill, we were, then… JUST WHAT IS THAT SOUND?!? One of my friend’s shoes squeaked… and for people like me (By like me I mean, I’ll let this quote explains “I don’t have pet peeves — I have major psychotic fucking hatreds!”- George Carlin. Or maybe I’m not THAT much, but I still have a pretty long list of dislikes).

The tiring walk up the hill has changed into the most annoying walk ever! Now that my friends know that I hated it, they keep doing it. I wasn’t in the mood to argue or anything, so I just walk slowly, trailing a good distance of 2 meters behind them. When they stop walking, I would also stop, thus making sure that I keep the gap fairly big. Why didn’t I walk in front of them? That is because they could just catch up to me if they so desire to, but if I trail behind them, they can’t get close to me. An advantage that I have is that, that day was fairly hot and I’m from a pretty warm country, if we were to stand in the sun, I would out last them. As time passed, they stopped and we reach our dorm without much trouble (other than me ranting along the way, they were lucky to have their headphones).

I’m sure everyone has a sound they hate, some hate loud noises, some just can’t stand screams, and there are so many other sounds that we hate. It’s normal and pretty much natural… what I don’t understand is… WHY WOULD SOMEONE MAKE THOSE SOUNDS? For fun? Hmm, let me tie you up and play something you hate for a few hours, that’s something fun, eh? Or maybe they do that to irritate the person who hates the sound? Are you THAT depressed in your life that you must use someone else’s dislikes for your entertainment? If then, I suggest you consult a psychologist.

I’m going to end this article now, to my friends mentioned (You know who you are); this is just a fun/sarcastic/POLITE article. I’m not actually mad at you or something, just so you know. Before I go… I think you know what I’ll say… Quotation time! “One thing about me is that I have is to ability not to give a damn on almost all occasions if I so desire to.”- Apiprach Sittipongpittaya + “I have made this longer, because I have not had the time to make it shorter.”- Blaise Pascal (Explains why my articles are mostly long - -).

Peace off.

OMG Epic Posters

I did this for my Graphic Design class (Usually we used Illustrator in this class) which... is very tiring. The background alone is 13 layers deep and the final is 16 layers deep. It was fun though, I also got myself a new cutting technique, which is also used for the banners below. Now, I'm gonna take a break from my designs because I had a freehand drawing in E Design class earlier. Please look forward to that work too, the main art in that work will be all freehand drawn and not traced, so it might not look THAT good.

{SoG} Website banners

I made these to website banners of my Lineage 2 Dreams clan :). The clan is called Saints of God. I sure hope one of my banners get chosen as the website's banner! I tried a new cutting technique and decide to use this technique whenever I cut people because the edges is way smoother than magic wand.

Assignment 8: Crossroads

Off-topic: to start it off... this assignment is easily the most unrealistic piece of work I've ever done.... My style is creating wacky/out-of-this-world pictures... which is very hard to make realistic.... And, this piece of work uses ideas instead of real places, because this means so much more than real places, thus making this piece of work hard to make realistic.

On-topic: The path I'm walking away is the biggest airport in Thailand... I used that to represent Thailand, my home country. The 2 paths I'm ignoring are fire, and books. I used fire to represent destruction, meaning I could ruin myself (And eventually get sent home), I used the books to represent total devotion to studying, which would be too boring ;). The path I'm waking to is covered in mist... I choose that because I usually don't plan ahead and take things as they come.

Creature shop- Asmodian assassin

The purpose of this assignment is to promote creativity and improve free-hand drawing as well as tracing. I choose this character because he is my favorite wallpaper! Also, he rarely appear anywhere so it is unlikely that anyone will have the same picture as mine. I used a whole lot of tools to create this but mostly heavy on eraser, layers, and brushes. It was very fun because I can work around with layers but it was very tiring.

Quick thought -Walking forward

I don't know what have gotten into me, but I just feel like writing about this all of a sudden. I know this isn't scheduled and I apologize for not writing about what I should have wrote. But, I just feel like sharing and hope you guys will hear me out.

I always believe that it is important to look back at the path you've take, but it is also important not to let it hinder your progress. That is why I don't really regret things I've done and try to always walk forward, even when walking forward is unbearably painful. Or, at times, we may have done something wrong and feel guilty about it, which is a good thing. But sometimes, one feels so guilty their mind can't take it anymore, and burst into tears. But, is it really a good thing? I don't think so, because the tears cannot change the past, and the time spent crying could be used to do things to make up for what you've done wrong.

I am NOT saying that crying is wrong. People cry at times of sadness, depressions, despair, etc. and, at appropriate time, even I will support you if you cry. Crying is a natural process of letting things go, the express yourself, which is a beautiful process at appropriate times. But, some people ALWAYS cry, for no reason. Instead of crying, shouldn't you be trying to improve things or make a decision? Even I felt like crying a bit myself recently, but I didn't for I kind of forbade myself to crying except for some VERY appropriate cases, and have been doing it so long that it have become a semi-subconscious process, but that is another story.

So, I am going to leave you guys with this for now.  This is one of will-probably-be-a-few serious and showing-a-little-of-the sensitive-side-of-myself passages. I tried to keep it formal, but writing formally just ain't my style. Do you have anything to share? Did you feel incredibly sad or cry lately? Let me know, and if I'm feeling up to it, I might even cheer you up. Who knows, I'm always kinda random anyways.

Sensitively emotionless

Signatures!

Long ago, I used to make forum signatures! I uploaded them on Photobucket (Just in case any of you saw them before) (+) (Same profile image, if you were wondering if it's me). So I decided to upload them to this blog too! Enjoy and feel free to use them.

Ethereal plain- Blending

I wanted to create a fantasy realm floating in space(?) or other dimension(see the ripples in the space BG) or whatever that is.  I used multilayer to create an illusion the the island is floating in the water. If you look carefully, you'll see that some part of the island is under the water, and under the water, is the space itself!

I learned how to use layers more effectively and learned more about tools (healing brush, etc).

I struggle with the multilayer because it is very hard to get it just right, to give the illusion that I intend it to.

I think I did pretty well and the outcome looks as wacky as I wanted it to be.

Smokey Mountain- Nightscape.

Smokey Mountain- Nightscape
1. My theme is a lonely mountain in the middle of the night, brighten only by the moonlight. The main reason I choose this theme is because I, personally, like darkness and black with a little spark of light as companionship.
2. It was very interesting and provide new ways of thinking and using the tools in the software.
3.I have done something like this before in Photoshop regarding the filters and lightning effects but I've never draw on a black canvas before.

First Assignment!

This is not only my first assignment, it is also the first image I've done free-handed. Mixture of different tools such as blur, smudge, gradient. Nothing fancy about this assignment, because I want to practice my free-handing skills (Still not very good at it.).
